Get the kids into the garden this half term

Get the kids into the garden this half term with a host of special offers, events, workshops and activities as we’re celebrating National Children’s Gardening Week this week!

Start with a visit to the garden centre here in Surrey where we’ve got a packed week of fun activities to keep them busy all day, from colouring activities to plant hunts, pot painting and planting and sowing workshops where they can really get their hands dirty.

They can choose their favourite seeds to take home from our child-friendly range developed specially to inspire little ones to try growing everything from weird and wonderful sensitive plants to giant beanstalks. Perhaps they’d like to start off their own veg patch with easy-to- grow carrots, marigolds and tasty tomatoes; try getting them to sow their own name in marigolds or fast-growing baby-leaf salads, or get them started on growing giant sunflowers or a pumpkin for Hallowe’en.

Getting the kids involved in the garden can be as simple as painting pebbles, making mini-gardens in seed trays, or going on a bug hunt after dark to see what you can find. The important thing is to get them outside, up close among the plants, getting their hands dirty and above all, having fun!
